About Us

Richard G. “Dick” Roose is an experienced criminal defense litigator.  He is a former prosecutor with a vast knowledge of criminal law.  He’s defended felony cases including rape, assault, sexual abuse and capital murder.  Dick has served as President of the District Bar and as the district’s representative on the NC State Bar Council.

Michael C. (Mike) Miller has returned to the private practice of law with the firm after having served as President of Pfeiffer University and as President/CEO of First National/CommunityONE Bank. He started his legal career in the legal department of Blue Bell, Inc. (now VF Corporation), a Fortune-500 company based in Greensboro, NC before working in private practice. A Morehead Scholar at UNC-CH (BA), Miller also graduated from the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest (MBA) and the Wake Forest School of Law (JD).

Mike has been active in community, state and industry affairs. He serves on the Board of Directors for Randolph Hospital, Inc., and he is a former Chairman of Board of Directors for the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research. He chaired the North Carolina IOLTA Committee of the North Carolina State Bar (making grants to provide for indigent civil legal services) and has also served as Chairman of the North Carolina Bankers Association, as a Director of the Charlotte Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and on the national level as a Director of the American Bankers Association.

His practice is focused on for- and non-profit clients in general business matters, corporate finance, trusts, wills and estate planning/settlement. He is a Certified Superior Court Mediator with the NC Dispute Resolution Commission.

Miller has been admitted to the bar of the NC State Courts, the Federal District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
